Allowing Yourself Grace During the Holidays and Into 2026

December carries a strange frequency.

It wraps itself in lights and music and lists. It asks us to give. To gather. To reflect. To celebrate. And somehow, to be grateful, productive, joyful, social, and deeply connected… all at the same time.

But what if this year, the invitation was different?

What if the holidays were not a performance… but a pause?

This season, instead of asking:

  • What did I survive?

  • Where did I grow in unseen ways?

  • What parts of me are asking for tenderness?

Grace is not the absence of growth - its the doorway to it

We have been taught that growth must be fueled by discipline, pressure, goals, and relentless forward motion. But true transformation doesn’t come from force. It comes from safety. From compassion. From allowing your nervous system to unclench long enough to hear your inner truth.

Grace is saying:

  • “I’m allowed to rest.”

  • “I’m allowed to be uncertain.”

  • “I’m allowed to begin again… slowly.”

Grace is giving yourself permission to slow down in a world that is speeding up. It is a radical act of self-love.

Instead of a long list of resolutions, try this 3-step practice over the coming weeks:

1. Reflect (without judgment)

Light a candle. Place a hand over your heart. Ask:

  • What am I proud of myself for this year?

  • Where did I show courage, even if no one saw it?

  • What am I ready to release?

Write it down. Do not edit it. Let truth land gently.

2. Restore (your energy, not your to-do list)

Choose one restorative practice:

  • Warm bath with intention

  • A slow walk in nature

  • Breathwork or guided hypnosis

  • Journaling or EFT tapping

  • Doing absolutely nothing – on purpose

Rest is not laziness. It is preparation.

3.Set intentions (from the heart, not the ego)

Instead of rigid goals, choose feelings:

  • How do I want to feel in 2026?

  • What does peace look like for me?

  • What version of me is ready to emerge?

Your nervous system doesn’t respond to pressure - it responds to vision.
